Full Editorial Writeup
Project Platoon is a 39-year-old heavy-haul trucking and fleet-services company operating out of a single yard at a key crossroads in Northern New England. The Company hauls dump, live-bottom asphalt, water tanker and lowbed equipment for construction, infrastructure and beverage customers, and layers on three complementary revenue streams under one roof: truck and trailer repair, DOT inspections, and a 24/7 self-serve diesel and DEF station that fuels both its own fleet and outside carriers. That integration is the point. Fleets that haul with the Company also fuel and service there, which deepens the relationship and captures more margin per customer.
The customer base is sticky and non-trivial: paving contractors, aggregate producers, state infrastructure projects and a nationally known bottled-water brand, many of them repeat relationships built over decades. The year-round tanker hauling and on-site fueling for the bottled-water brand is the standout asset here because it provides a durable base of non-seasonal volume in a business that would otherwise swing hard with the paving season. That counter-seasonal anchor is what separates this from a pure construction-hauling operation.
At $8.3M in revenue and $700K in EBITDA, this is a thin-margin, asset-heavy operation where the equipment fleet and the fueling infrastructure carry most of the enterprise value. The tailwind story is real: a multi-year, state-funded highway and bridge program supports paving and aggregate hauling demand, and management cites 2026 growth led by tanker volume, outside fuel sales and third-party shop work. The buyer is acquiring a regional hauling platform with real hard assets and diversified revenue, not a capital-light cash machine.
