Full Editorial Writeup
This is a 35-year-old equipment rental business in Tarrant County, Texas (the Fort Worth metro), renting skid steers, excavators, scissor lifts, trenchers and related construction equipment to small contractors, construction companies and homeowners. The business operates out of a 5,600 square foot shop and showroom on a 1.2 acre lot with highway access, and it runs lean with just three full-time employees. Its reputation has been built on well-maintained equipment and service over three decades.
The deal is heavy on hard assets. The $4.2M asking price includes roughly $2M of owned real estate and about $1.4M of rental equipment and party-rental inventory. That means the buyer is paying $4.2M for a business generating $581K in cash flow, but roughly $3.4M of that price is tangible real estate and equipment, which materially changes how you should read the 7.23x headline multiple.
There is a dormant party and event rental division (tables, chairs, tablecloths) that currently makes up only 5% to 10% of revenue and represents an obvious, low-cost growth lever. The seller is exiting for 'other business interests' rather than retirement, and revenue of roughly $1.1M on $1.4M of equipment suggests utilization and fleet mix are worth close inspection.
