Full Editorial Writeup
This is a design-build general contracting firm founded in the early 2000s serving commercial, retail, industrial, office, and specialty-use clients throughout the Southeast. The business runs an asset-light model: it operates from a virtual office with just three full-time employees and executes projects through subcontractors who supply all construction equipment. The firm's reputation rests on quality work, responsiveness, transparency, and consistent execution, and the majority of its work comes from repeat customers and referrals rather than competitive bidding.
At roughly $18.1M in revenue against $1.9M of EBITDA, the firm converts about an 11 percent margin, which is respectable for general contracting given the pass-through nature of subcontractor costs. The negotiated, relationship-driven project flow is the single most attractive feature here. In a trade where most GCs grind through low-margin competitive bids, this firm wins work through trust and repeat performance, which protects pricing and reduces the feast-or-famine volatility of bid-chasing contractors.
The model's extreme leanness cuts both ways. Three employees producing $18M in revenue signals a business almost entirely dependent on the owner and a tiny team of project managers for client relationships and execution oversight. That is the central question any buyer must resolve: how much of the goodwill and repeat demand walks out the door with the retiring owner, and how transferable are those negotiated relationships to new management.
