Full Editorial Writeup
Premier Florida General Contractor is a general contracting and construction management firm that has operated in the Florida market since 1997, giving it more than three decades of continuous history. The company delivers commercial and residential construction across new builds, renovations, and specialty project work, serving governmental, hospitality, and residential clients throughout the state. With roughly 70 full-time employees and an experienced management team in place, it functions as an institutional-grade contractor rather than a one-man shop.
The business generates approximately $42 million in revenue against roughly $4 million in EBITDA, a thin but typical margin profile for general contracting where most revenue passes through to subs and materials. Its most valuable asset is intangible: significant bonding capacity that lets it bid and win larger, more complex contracts, plus a backlog of contracted work that provides near-term revenue visibility. Bonding capacity, tenured relationships, and a skilled crew are genuinely hard to replicate, which is the real moat here.
The seller is retiring and is prepared to remain as the contractor license qualifying agent for at least one year, a critical detail because licensing continuity is the single biggest transfer risk in this deal. The facility is owned by the seller through a related entity and is not included in the asking price; a buyer can negotiate a new lease or a separate purchase. At $27 million against roughly $4 million EBITDA, the 6.7x multiple is aggressive for a GC and will require real scrutiny on backlog quality and margin durability.
Why we like it
- Scale and tenure are real here: over 30 years operating, roughly $42 million in revenue, and about 70 full-time staff with a management team already in place. This is an institutional contractor, not an owner-dependent trade shop, which makes continuity of operations plausible post-close.
- Bonding capacity is the genuine moat. Significant bonding capability lets the firm compete for larger and more complex public and private contracts that smaller GCs simply cannot bid, and that capacity took decades of clean performance and balance sheet strength to build.
- Florida construction tailwinds remain among the strongest in the country, driven by sustained population growth and ongoing commercial and residential development. The diversified mix across governmental, hospitality, and residential work reduces dependence on any single demand cycle within the state.
