Full Editorial Writeup
This is a 42-year-old general contractor operating exclusively in the municipal parks and recreational facilities niche across a major Texas metroplex. Since 1984 the company has completed more than 440 park projects, building deep institutional expertise in complex site development, grading, drainage, utilities, public safety compliance, and durable recreational infrastructure. It handles projects end to end, from preconstruction and estimating through procurement, construction coordination, and final completion, serving athletic facilities, trails, playgrounds, streetscapes, and pedestrian improvements.
The business runs $30M in revenue on roughly $2.0M of EBITDA, a ~6.8% margin that is typical for a bid-driven heavy construction shop. It fields 50 employees out of a 7,700 square foot warehouse and delivers work through multiple contract structures, including CMAR, competitive bid, self-performed, and subcontracted work. Project sizes range from roughly $5M to $40M, which is a meaningful scale advantage against smaller local competitors.
What makes this notable is the combination of a defensible municipal customer base and the single-vertical focus that creates relationships, prequalification standing, and bonding capacity that are hard for newcomers to replicate. Revenue is funded by public parks and recreation budgets, which tend to be more stable through cycles than private commercial development. The President intends to stay on, which de-risks a buyer's transition in a relationship-heavy, bid-dependent business.
